On the evidence of this first solo recording, Shweta Jhaveri deserves to be counted as one of the most accomplished of a number of outstanding young artists currently performing Hindustani classical music. Shweta studied first under the late Shree Vilas Khandekar of Ahmedabad, her home town: she is now a disciple of Pandit Jasraj, popularise of the 'Mewati gharana' style, and one of India's greatest singers of khyal and classical bhajans. She is a regular concert artist both in India and abroad, and has been the youngest ever visiting lecturer at the Ali Akbar Music College at San Francisco.
