Love in Tokyo is a charming, frothy comedy of chance meetings and happy coincidences.
Chi Ku is a little boy in Tokyo who becomes an orphan when his Indian father & Japanese mother die. On hearing the news, his Indian grandmother Gayatri Devi (Lalita Pawar) sends his uncle Ashok (Joy Mukherjee) to get him back to India. However, Chi Ku does not want to leave his beautiful Japan and tries to escape from his uncle by hiding below a truck where he meets Asha (Asha Parekh). He recognises her as the girl he saw on TV because she has run away to escape from her uncle (Madan Puri) who wants to get her married to Pran.
Will Chi Ku find a home, Ashok, his lost nephew and will Asha lose the wicked Pran and find true love?
Will their paths cross and together take them to a happily-ever-after? Shot in beautiful locales in Japan, full of some of the best known hits of Shankar-Jaikishan like "Sayonara" and "O Mere Shahekhuba", and with Mehmood in one of his most memorable comic roles.
Love In Tokyo is one of the evergreen hits of Hindi cinema.
