But this path of true love is strewn with too many thorns - social disparity, wealth and adults who have long forgotten the sweet agony of love. Bobby is the story of how these two young lovers are pitted against a world that no longer understands how love can conquer everything and triumphs. Bobby is a milestone in hindi cinema for several reasons.

It saw the debut of Dimple Kapadia, one of Indian cinema's finest actresses, it became an icon for young lovers and its songs ('Hum Tum Ik Kamre Mein' and 'Jhoot Bole Kauva Kate') scored by Laxmikant Pyarelal became evergreen hits, capturing the urgent, sweet innocence of young love.
