Quite simply, Chaurasia is one of the best musicians on the planet. Whether you judge him by emotion, spirituality or astonishing technique, he's amazing. And all the more amazing since he does it all on a simple bamboo flute. But then, this is classical Indian music, and amazing performances are common. The flute can be, and often is, a cold, distant instrument. But held by Chaurasia, it conveys tremendous human warmth. There are some players - and this is one of them - whose playing transcends all musical categories.
